Wired Plastic Prepaid Visa Card

This is a surprisingly good card, if you like the benefits that it offers. It may not offer every one of the features that its competitor’s offer, but it throws out some unique options that are definitely worth a look. The fees are also upfront and not too much.

All of the usual items are clearly in place. You can reload the card for free through a direct deposit account, or through one of their services online, or even at a MoneyGram or Western Union. Anyone can get a card too. You can use it at any ATM for a cash withdrawal. It even supports online bill payments. They offer free alerts about any account activity to keep an eye out for fraud too. So, it offers the basics of its competitors. There are some unique options too. First, they support an automatic bill payment plan, which is just really nice. Second, they actually have a real rewards program hooked up with the card. Each dollar spent will give you a point to spend in their rewards store. You may not be able to slowly build up to a vacation in the Bahamas, but you will be able to buy some music downloads and calling cards with your points. That’s just a nice little plus.

The fees are pretty reasonable too. They have a set monthly fee of $3.95 and an activation fee of $9.95. You have to add at least twenty dollars to the card to get it started though. This isn’t too much for a prepaid credit card plan though. It would have been nice if they had an incentive for direct deposits though. That really sets them back a bit. If you plan to use direct deposits to load your card, then you will find much lower fees from their competitors.

Don’t count this card out too quickly though. It has all of the basic features that you need and a few nice extras at a price that isn’t too bad. If you can live with the fee structure, this could be another good alternative for you.
