This is another credit card that offers a lot of the basics at a decent price. It’s just sad that Capital One couldn’t have offered a better package with all of their expertise. Still, if you just want a decent prepaid credit card, then this will be an option to analyze.
You have all of the different basics packed together. There aren’t any credit checks so anyone can get it with a simple application. It can be reloaded for free through a direct deposit account, or you can reload it at any one of their participating locations. If you go with the direct deposit option, you can always get money from one of their ATM for a fee of $1.75 or you can usually get extra cash from a retailer on top of another purchase. As usual, it will be accepted just about anywhere they accept Visa. The one big bonus is that you will be included in Visa’s Zero Liability plan, so you’ll be covered completely for any unauthorized charges in the event that your card is stolen.
Let’s move on to the unpleasant matter of the fees. Again, they aren’t terrible, but you just aren’t getting much beyond the basic service for the fees. Like several other prepaid cards, you will be able to have the monthly fee waived if you sign up for their direct deposit option. They don’t have any purchase fees though, so you won’t owe them too much beyond the basic customer service and reloading fees.
The Capital One Prepaid card is another nice option for the person for wants the convenience of a prepaid credit card. The fees aren’t too bad but it just doesn’t give anything special. If you just want an affordable card from a recognizable name, then you will probably like this card.
